Sarah Frost
In this week’s Digging Deeper service, Sarah Frost explores the biblical call to generosity and giving, unpacking why this theme runs so strongly through both the teachings of Jesus and the wider story of Scripture. Using a clear and practical framework of time, talents and money, she invites us to reflect on how we each respond to God’s generosity in our own lives. Thoughtful, grounded and highly practical, this is a sermon that connects faith with everyday action and the life of the church community.

Beginning with the extraordinary generosity of God - the gift of grace freely given - she invites us to consider how we respond in return. Through Scripture and thoughtful reflection, this sermon explores how our time, our gifts and our resources can all become part of God’s work in the world. A gentle and prayerful invitation to look again at what we have been given, and how we might

David Blackmore
In this final session of the "Come and See" series, David Blackmore shares a powerful message on the essential rhythm of the Christian life: being with Jesus and being sent out for Him. Walking seven miles from Jerusalem to Emmaus, two disciples experienced a world-changing revelation that turned their exhaustion into a joyful sprint back to their friends. David connects this ancient story to our modern Eucharistic liturgy and Paul’s letter to the Romans, challenging us to offer our unique gifts—whether ser

Join us for a reflective morning service as Licensed Lay Minister David Blackmore explores the famous "Walk to Emmaus" from Luke's Gospel. Beginning with a personal look at the simple joy of walking—whether identifying birdsong or sketching the landscape—David draws us into the journey of two disciples whose heavy hearts and downcast eyes were transformed by an unexpected companion. This sermon examines how Jesus meets us in our grief and confusion, opening the scriptures and making himself known in the bre

David Blackmore and Jack Curham
In this Easter Day double-hander, David Blackmore and Jack Durham retell the resurrection story through three simple but powerful objects: a backpack, a phone, and a relay baton. Through Mary Magdalene’s encounter with the risen Christ, they explore the burdens we carry, the deeply personal way Jesus calls us by name, and the hope-filled mission we are sent to share with the world. Warm, imaginative and full of practical Easter hope, this is a message about how grief can be transformed into purpose and how

What does Easter still have to say in a world shaped by AI, war, uncertainty and crisis? In this Easter Sunday sermon, Ian Sansbury begins with a wonderfully contemporary question before drawing us into the timeless and quietly breathtaking resurrection narrative in John’s Gospel. From Mary Magdalene approaching the tomb in darkness to the intimate moment when she hears her name, this is an invitation to “lean close” to the details of the story and rediscover why the message He is risen continues to bring h

Tim Crapper
Palm Sunday can feel wonderfully familiar: palm branches, a donkey, cheering crowds, the beginning of Holy Week. But in this thoughtful sermon, Tim Crapper invites us to look again with fresh eyes and discover just how much is going on beneath the surface of this well-loved Gospel story. From the humility of the donkey to the “seismic” way the whole city is stirred by Jesus’ arrival, this is no gentle pageant but the beginning of an earth-shaking week that leads inexorably to the cross and resurrection. Ian Sansbury
In this week’s sermon, Ian Sansbury invites us to reflect on something deeply familiar—food—and to discover within it a profound spiritual truth. From everyday meals to moments of shared joy around the table, we are reminded that eating together is about far more than sustenance; it is about community, belonging, and the sharing of life itself. Drawing on the rich imagery of the Eucharist, this sermon explores how, in communion, heaven and earth meet, past, present and future converge, and we are drawn into

Planning your Visit

A Warm Welcome!

The following information is specifically for those planning to visit us for the first time, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at St Mary's Church in Church Lane, Wendover, for our two main Sunday services each week, which start at 9.00am and 10.45am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you will be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

Plan your journey

Accessibility

There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets in the Church Centre, which you can find through the door towards the front of the church on the left hand side.

Our Main Sunday Services

Our 9am Holy Communion is a more traditional service, including music and hymns in an established style but using up-to-date language. It will probably appeal to those who are used to more formal Anglican worship.  There is no provision for children at this service.

Our 10.45am Sunday Worship services follow a more informal style with contemporary worship songs. These services are typically most suitable for families. Children of all ages are very welcome and we have activities for younger children at the back of church. On the second and fourth Sundays of each month, we share Communion at this service. The first and third Sundays do not include Communion and are designed to be rich in teaching and learning for people of all ages - from 2 to 92!

You can find details of our other services here.

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out our Church Life section on this website to see if there’s a group that you'd like to join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving and Volunteering

If you want to get involved in the life of the church, why not sign up to serve on a team. We are always looking for volunteers to get involved in different aspects of our work.
